Maintenance advice for Addagrip products
The following has been prepared to allow you to protect and preserve your “Addagrip” Resin Bound Surface.
Routine Maintenance and General Cleaning
General cleaning of the “Terrabase” surface can be carried out by cold pressure washing up to a maximum 150 bar rating to remove dirt and grime. The water should be applied using a fan type lance which should be kept 200mm above the installed “Terrabase”.
Care should be taken however to prevent damage to the surface with excessive water pressure.
Removing cement stains
If the surface is contaminated with any cement or concrete marks these can be removed using diluted hydrochloric acid or a proprietary cement remover. In all cases we recommend that a small test area is carried out first to confirm suitability.
If the surface has been contaminated with chewing gum it is best removed by freezing and chipping off as necessary.
Oil on the surface
Oil stains should be removed as soon as possible using a mild detergent as required to prevent possible staining. Alternatively, ‘Oil Stain Remover’ from Sea-Chem can be used.
Rubber tyre marks
Rubber tyre marks can be removed using ‘Tyre Mark Remover’ supplied by Sea-Chem.
Silt build up
In extreme cases silt and other fines may need to be removed to preserve the surface’s porosity. A commercial wet/vac or suction cleaner can be used.
The “Terrabase” surface should be regularly cleared of leaves etc. to prevent moss growth or possible tanning staining. Most vegetation can be easily removed using an ordinary detergent and power wash/scrub. However, if this is not effective the moss or weed growth should be treated using an appropriate herbicide.
Before using any chemical, please conduct a test area to ensure the colour of the “Terrabase” product does not change.
The “Terrabase” surface has been designed for normal pedestrian and vehicular traffic use, therefore protection should be provided wherever possible against abnormal usage. Abnormal usage applies to heavy objects such as skips, these should not be dragged across the surface, the “Terrabase” must be protected in this instance to avoid any impact damage, staining etc.
Damaged surfaces should be repaired as soon as possible. Please contact the us as detailed below.
Snow, Ice and Frost
Areas subject to snow, ice and frost can be treated using Rock Salt, however this may be harmful to plants and can damage surrounding metal or concrete surfaces. Excessive snow should be shovelled away using a plastic snow shovel, taking care not to damage the “Terrabase” Resin Bound surfacing. Do not use a wire brush ice remover, alternative eco-friendly ice removers can be used, however a small area must be tested to ensure the “Terrabase” is not damaged or weakened.
When using “Terrabase” resin, areas covered with seasonal fixtures such as flower pots will see a difference in colour when moved. Structurally the surface will perform as normal. This does not affect “Terrabase UV”.
